SECURITY OPERATIONS  |  50IB clash with NPA terrorist, seizes camp in Apayao

CAMP GEN SERVILLANO AQUINO, Tarlac City (DWDD) – Army troops under the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) encountered with the Communist NPA Terrorist Group (CNTG) in the province of Apayao yesterday, June 18, 2018.

Troops from the 50th Infantry Battalion (50IB), under the Joint Task Force (JTF) “TALA”, chanced on a group of New People’s Army (NPA) while conducting security operation at Sitio Sibayan, Barangay. Paco Valley, Kabugao, Apayao

A meeting engagement initially ensued against more or less fifteen (15) CNTs, which lasted for about thirty (30) minutes. Engaged troops immediately conducted pursuit operations while fresh troops were sent in the same area as augmentation.

Another ten (10) minute encounter transpired between the reinforcing unit against eight (8) withdrawing NPAs twenty (20) minutes after the initial gunfight.

In the late afternoon of the same day, while conducting pursuit operation, troops have also discovered an NPA encampment having two (guard posts) at the same area in Sitio Sibayan, Brgy Paco Valley, Kabugao, Apayao, which can accommodate about forty (40) terrorist members.

The Army troops recovered equipment and personal belongings from the terrorist group having high intelligence value during the encounter, including some parts of customized bandoleers inside the enemy camp.

Moreover, no casualty was incurred by the government troops, while an undetermined number of casualties on the enemy side as manifested by the bloodstains along their route of withdrawal.

NOLCOM will continue to conduct Focused Military Operations (FMO), with the support of the locals in the area, to prevent the NPA terrorists from doing hostile plans against our  people and hampering the development in the community. NOLCOM / MCAG
