VIGILANCE  |  AFP monitors recruitment activities of Maute remnants

CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is constantly coordinating with the Local Government and residents of Lanao Del Sur.

According to Joint Task Force Ranao Deputy Commander Col Romeo Brawner Jr., the action was in response to reports that remnants of the Maute terror group has started recruitment activities among residents of the province, especially those residing around Lake Lanao.

Col Brawner added that reaching out with the LGU and the community would serve as a deterrent to the Maute recruitment, especially on the youth, that exploit and use for their terror activities.

Meanwhile, AFP Chief of Staff General Rey Leonardo Guerrero said the AFP is concentrating now with the clearing operation in Marawi in preparation for the wide-scale rehabilitation of the city.

The military’s role on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Marawi would be the maintenance of the security and peace and order and in assisting with the  reconstruction of infrastructures through the armed forces engineering units. AES
