NAVAL STATION JOSE V ANDRADA, Roxas Boulevard, Manila (DWDD) – The Philippine Navy (PN) will render an arrival and welcome ceremony to its second amphibious Landing Dock (LD), formerly known as Strategic Sealift Vessel, Davao Del Sur (LD602) today, Wednesday, May 10 at Pier 13, South Harbor, Manila.
The Commander of Philippine Fleet, Rear Admiral Gaudencio C. Collado Jr. will spearhead said ceremony as representative of the Flag Officer In Command, PN. Highlight of the event will be the tribute and recognition to the laudable efforts of the sailors who are instrumental for the ship’s safe and successful voyage to the Philippines.
The second LD is exactly the same type of vessel as the BRP Tarlac (LD601), a Makassar-class Landing Platform Dock of the Indonesian Navy. Its delivery to the Philippines completes the two-unit SSV procurement project with an approved budget contract of PhP4 billion sourced from the AFP Modernization Act Trust Fund. NPAO / MCAG
