MANILA (DWDD) – “We remain firm and confident that we can still proceed according to the agreement we just signed in Utrecht to swiftly restore our respective ceasefires while we work on the terms of an interim bilateral ceasefire agreement.”
This was the statement made by Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) Peace Panel Chief Negotiator Secretary Silvestre Bello III on efforts by the government to attain peace with the communist movement despite recent attacks of the terror group New People’s Army in Abra and North Cotabato.
According to Bello, both sides are still in the thick of pursuing the peace talks despite the unfortunate incidents. And these new assault by the terror group will not put into peril their peace efforts.
He added that they have talked with their counterparts and they have vowed to look into the matter.
