2 ASG Members killed as military ops continues in Sulu

jtf-suluGovernment forces were wounded in a firefight against Abu Sayyaf Group at Lungon-lungon, Tubig Dakula, Indanan, Sulu around 5pm yesterday, March 1, 2017.

Colonel Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Joint Task Force Sulu confirmed that operating troops from13th and 15th Scout Ranger Company conducted a focused military operation when they encountered a still undetermined number of ASG that lasted for 45 minutes.

ASG members withdrew after the firefight. Pursuit operations left 11 government troops injured while on ASG’s side, two are reported dead and five wounded.

Based on the reports out of 11 troops that are wounded, only 2 had gunshot wounds and they were immediately sent to Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital. Others only obtained minor injuries and abrasions.

The operations are still ongoing to completely dislodge the members of Abu Sayyaf Group.

The continuous operation is a manifestation how eager the armed forces to rescue the kidnap victims and to fully neutralize the rebel group. – EPJA
