After President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of all-out war against the communist group NPA or New People’s Army, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) deemed that they gradually weaken the group due to the series of operations they have done.
According to AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Col. Edgard Arevalo, they have launched 43 operations against the group from February 4 until the present date.
There were 16 NPA members killed, 4 were injured while 17 were arrested according to AFP’s data and high-powered firearms were recovered from the group.
Arevalo also re-emphasized that if there is a group who wants to end the decade-long dispute between the two groups, it is the AFP.
In this way, the AFP could focus on their other duties to the country.
Meanwhile, there were 65 members including 2 minors surrendered to the authorities, Arevalo added.
