DAVAO CITY (DWDD) – The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) claimed that the two persons they arrested last Friday, September 21, 2018 was part of an advance party of the communist terrorist New People’s Army (NPA) assigned to sow terror in the city.
“I warned the NPAs not to enter the city because the people already knew their plan to threaten the community,” said Alexander Tagum, the director of Davao City Police Office (DCPO).
Tagum said the arrest of two NPA members “is a cause for alarm” and that they should not let their guard down.
On Friday, police arrested Jimmy Duran Lucob and Raquelyn Moda in a raid in a safehouse in Purok 3, Barangay Langub, Talomo District. Police are still are still conducting hot pursuit operation against 14 other NPA members who were able to escape the raid.
Based on the initial interrogation conducted on the two suspected rebels, Tagum said they learned that they were sent to the city as an advance party. He said Barangay Langub in Talomo District is utilized as the rebels’ drop point because it is adjacent to the city’s downtown. The DCPO chief lamented that some residents are willing to let rebels make safe houses in their community.
“They (residents supporting the Communist movement) are the ones who keep the NPA belongings,” Tagum said as he warned barangay officials in the city to be vigilant.
The DCPO chief said they are strengthening their Oplan Davao Kalinaw to preempt the entry of the communist and other threat groups in the city.
“That is why we have high-security level here,” Tagum added.
The police director said he always reminds station commanders and personnel to be always on alert “because (threat groups) are just monitoring our movement.”
He said the DCPO is coordinating with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Task Force Davao and other intelligence networks to prevent any evil plan of the threat groups. Tagum said there is an NPA plan “but I can’t divulge.” “Definitely these people are planning (something),” he said. Tagum CPS / MCAG
