MISSING IN ACTION  |  PNP to assist DILG in investigating LCEs during TY Ompong

CAMP RAFAEL CRAME, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) is ready to assist the Department of Interior and local Government (DILG) in investigating Local Chief Executives (LCEs) who were “missing in action” during the onslaught of TY Ompong.


According to PNP spokesperson Police Senior Superintendent Benigno Durana, they are just awaitng the orders from the DILG for the PNP to start the conduct of investigation to pinpoint LCEs who were remiss and/or were not present in their city / municipality when TY Ompong struck their province.

S Supt Durana said that these LCEs, specifically in CAR, should be identified to find out if they implemented any pre emptive or force evacuation in their area to prevent the loss of life.

Based on the monitoring of the PNP, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) registered the most number of casualty due to TY Ompong. In their latest tally, 74 individuals died due to TY Ompong, 60 of the victims are from CAR.

Meanwhile, S Supt Durana assured that the PNP will continue assisting the LGUs specially in CAR and they are optimistic that they will fornd survivors in the incident.

Meanwhile the PNP is ready to assist the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in their investigation of Local Chief Executives (LCEs) who were remiss of their duty when TY Ompng hit their province.

It can be recalled that DILG spokesman Assistant Secretary Jonathan Malaya, mentioned of ten (10) Local Chief Executives that they will be investigating on reports of negligence of duty in preparation for the landfall of TY Ompong. AES / ALS / MCAG
