FULLY OPERATIONAL  |  OCD-NDRRMC Communication System

CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Communication System of the Office of Civil Defense – National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (OCD-NDRRMC) is fully operational after it was affected by Typhoon Ompong.

According to OCD Director Ruben Carandang, reports are now coming in from the different provinces affected by the storm

As of the latest, there is a lone casualty identified as Dresden Golidan y Abando of Purok 3, Badihoy, Guisad Surong, Baguio City who was injured after part of their house gave way due to sustained rains in the area.

Carandang said that they will be receiving a more comprehensive report this afternoon after their communication system, in particular their internet and radio, was affected by TY Ompong early this morning.

It was earlier explained by NDRRMC Spokesperson Edgar Posadas that they were forced to bring down their communication antennae in areas hit hard by TY Ompong to avoid any damage to the equipment. AES / MCAG
