CAMP GEN SERVILLANO AQUINO, Tarlac City (DWDD) – The AFP Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) has raised the Blue and Red Alert Status for all of its units in anticipation of any that may be brought by Typhoon Ompong (IN Mangkhut).
TY Ompong is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) today, Wednesday, September 12.
According to LT Gen Emmanuel Salamat, Commander, NOLCOM, they have already sent “warning advisory” tom all of their units and Local Government Units (LGUs) within their area of responsibility in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
Aside from this, they have already started the setting up of Regional Emergency Operation Center, which is tasked to facilitate the coordination and reporting of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) activities and incidents.
Lt Gen Salamat added that the need for any evacuation would depend on the possible effect of the storm, which they will include in their warning advisory. The placement of NOLCOM under Blue and Red alert is to ensure the readiness of all concerned units. They have also a meeting today with the Regional OCDs and other representatives to prepare for the onslaught of TY Ompong. AES
