CAMP MAJOR DAVID P SABIDO, Guipos, Zamboang Del Sur (DWDD) – The Commanding General of the Philippine Army officially inaugurates the 105 Solar Power Kits to one hundred (100) households in Barangay Ticala, San Pablo, Zamboanga Del Sur on August 11, 2018, Saturday.
Last July 26, the solar panel kits were received by the residents of Ticala during the turn over ceremony with Tarlac Heritage Foundation headed by its co-founder, Dra. Isabel C Suntay. This program is in partnership with Tarlac Heritage Foundation, 53IB, and LGU of San Pablo. Three days after the turn-over ceremony, the military troops were able to efficiently installed the solar panels in the barangay.
A solar power kit is composed of a solar panel, inverter, storage battery, LED lamps and phone chargers. The system can provide power to three to six LED bulbs which is roughly enough to light a household and charge their cellular phones which, especially to island dwellers is important in maintaining contact with the mainland dwellers.
Ticala is a coastal barangay of the municipality of San Pablo, ZDS. It has a total land area of about 1,150 hectares currently inhabited by a population of 512. The island is separated from the rest of the barangay by several square kilometer of thick mangrove forest.
Aside from providing the community with solar lights, Lt Gen Rolando Joselito D Bautista AFP, Commanding General, Philippine Army together with Maj Gen Roseller G Murillo AFP Commanding General, 1st Infantry Tabak Division, PA, Col Bagnus P Gaerlan Jr, Commander 102nd Infantry Brigade, Ltc Marlowe E Patria, Commanding Officer, 53IB and Dra Suntay also distributed 105 packs containing assorted groceries to 105 families. Residents joyfully received the packages.
“Tarlac Heritage Foundation wants to thank everyone who became part of this project especially to the military troops. To all the members of these community, let us all hold our heads high on thanking our soldiers because your needs came to us in behalf of their efforts”, Dra Suntay stressed during his speech.
“I wish that all of us will cooperate in order to develop the livelihood here in Barangay Ticala. We can’t do it on our own; your Mayor can’t do it alone and the Barangay Chairman. We are all in this together in order for us all to achieve our goals”, Maj Gen Murillo said.
Even if we came from afar, we force ourselves to come here because we know that people like you should be in first priority to receive service from the government. Let us take care of these solar panels since they will play an important role in this trying seasons for the use of our children and the children of our children, Lt Gen Bautista stressed during his speech. 1DPAO / MCAG
