Almost 97 million Filipinos are now covered by PhilHealth as of 2017.
According to PhilHealth President and CEO Roy Ferrer, it will already equate to 93 percent of the population of the Philippines. He added that PhilHealth service will continue to reach our countrymen especially the poor ones.
PhilHealth proved their eagerness by providing real assistance to the public. Under their programs are PhilHealth’s Point of Service (POS), wherein treatment will be covered by social health insurance. POS included Appropriations Act of 2018 as well; aiming to invite Filipino’s whose still not part of their programs. On the other hand, the goal of No Balance Billing or Walang Dagdag Bayad is to provide service with no on top charges.
PhilHealth recently partnered with Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCor) to provide better health assistance.
According to Ferrer, they are committed to give nationwide financial access health care, one of the rights stated in Republic Act 7875.
So far, PhilHealth still continues to widen their benefit packages in accordance with the need of the Filipino community.
