DOST Holds Annual National Science and Technology Week

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) invites all to its annual “National Science and Technology (NSTW) Week 2018” on July 17-21, 2018, at the World Trade Center, Pasay City, Philippines from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This week-long event aims to emphasize the significant role of science and technology in nation-building and achieving economic development. It will also highlight the contribution of the Filipino’s collective efforts and knowledge to the success of our country’s science and technology sector.

The theme for this year’s science and technology week is “Science for the People: Innovation for Collective Prosperity” which focuses on the simulation of the ecosystem of how Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) work together for the progress of a community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to appreciate the latest DOST inventions, product innovations, and state-of-the-art equipment developed by Filipino engineers and scientists. They can attend seminars, lectures, and forums by DOST agencies and partners from the private sectors to showcase innovations in education where some of the country’s National Scientists will be present. Academic institutions, research and development institutes, national government agencies, the private sector, as well as entrepreneurs are among the active participants in this year’s NSTW event.

This is open to the public and admission is free although there are some activities that are by invitation only including the Scholars’ Awarding, STARBOOKS summit, and chosen seminar-workshops. (Anabel T. Lasaten)
