MANILA (DWDD) – The Philippine National Police – Special Investigation Task Group is looking into three (3) persons of interest in the killing of Tanauan, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili.
According to PNP-CALABARZON Regional Director Chief Superintendent Eduard Carranza, they are currently investigating three persons of interest, two is involved in illegal drugs, while the third is not.
Carranza said that the drug angle carries more weight as the possible motive in the killing of Mayor Halili. Although he did not give any details on the possible involvement of Halili in the illegal drug trade or if this has anything to do with the his “walk of shame” campaign as initially speculated by PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde. Although Carranza clarified that they are not discounting the angle of politics in the incident.
The PNP is still waiting for the Halili family to recover from the tragedy before getting any statement from them on the possible threats faced by the mayor from his political foes.
