CAMP GEN ARTEMIO RICARTE, Puerto Princesa, Palawan (DWDD) – The AFP Western Command (WESCOM) in partnership with the Provincial Government of Palawan through the Palawan Social Welfare and Development Office, Palawan State University, and the Pinag-isang Lakas ng Kabataang Lider ng Palawan, held the Palawan Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) 2018 through a four (4)-day Educational Boot Camp at WESCOM Gymnasium, Camp Gen Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City on June 21-24, 2018.
The YLS 2018 with a theme “Kabataan Mahalaga Ka sa Pagpapanatili ng Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran ng ating Bayan” was designed to empower the province’s next generation of leaders to become the advocates of peace and development initiatives. The activity engaged 100 youth leaders who are 15-30 yrs old from the different campuses of Palawan.
Throughout the activity, the youth leaders were able to instill in their hearts and minds the deeper essence of discipline, camaraderie, leadership skills to build confidence, to foster patriotism and to nurture commitment to positive change. Through meaningful conversations, outdoor activities, plenary sessions, and peer collaboration, participants learned how to be responsible citizens and be actively involved in promoting peace, mutual respect and development.
