PASONANCA PARK, Zamboanga City (DWDD) – Naval Forces Western Mindanao held a 5K run dubbed as “Run for the Navy 2018” on May 19, 2018 at Pasonanca Park, Zamboanga City in connection with the 120th Philippine Navy Anniversary.
The event was participated by the Sailors and Marines of Western Mindanao, various government units from the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, Philippine National Police, BJMP, BFP, DSWD and stakeholders from YL Fishing Company, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Zamboanga City High School Main, Tumaga Senior High School, Zamboanga Runner’s Club, Ciudad Medical Zamboanga Metrobank, and others.
The Commander, Naval Forces Western Mindanao Rear Adm. Rene V Medina AFP showcased the 120th Philippine Navy Anniversary. “This fun run could be a semblance of the long years of triumph that our navy had. Every stride, downhill, and uphill that we made in competing this 5km run, will remind us that the path our predecessors had to take to make what our navy today, is not an easy one.”
“Let that every sweat, that every step, and that every pace you had made in this run manifest your sincere care and love to the Philippine Navy,” he added.
After the fun run, Rear Adm. Medina headed the awarding of medals and prizes to the Top 3 runners and giveaways to the top 100 finishers.
The activity promoted health and wellness to PN Personnel and partner stakeholders and enjoin the AFP and private sectors.
Indeed, the Philippine Navy through the Naval Forces Western Mindanao had enjoined the people of Zamboanga City as the PN mark its 120th Anniversary. The Command is hopeful of the continuous support of the citizens of Western Mindanao as these Sailors and Marines perform its mandated task to protect and secure its maritime territory. NFWM / MCAG
