LANAO DEL NORTE (DWDD) – A joint operation of the AFP and PNP netted Pantar, Lanao Del Norte Mayor Jabar Tago and several of his men for violation Republic Act 9556 or the “Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
According to Colonel Romeo Brawner, spokesperson, Joint Task Force Ranao, a joint law enforcement operation by elements of the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, Scout Ranger Battalion, Military Intelligence Battalion and Pantar PNP was launched May 13 at 6 in the morning in the vicinity of Barangay Sundiga Punod, Pantar, Lanao Del Norte.
A brief encounter occurred before authorities captured Pantar Mayor Jabar Tago together with Jamedoling Tago, Janoding Tago, Rehan Gumpal, Abdul Racman Gumpal, Kiram Ampuan, and Nasroding Lao. Recovered from the scene were fifteen firearms to include: nine (9) rifles, a shotgun, and five (5) pistols.
The suspects are now facing charges of violation of RA 9556 and the COMELEC Gun Ban.
Meanwhile, the above mentioned personalities are also facing respective cases filed in the court of instance: Mayor Jabar Tago, Janoding Tago, and Jameloding Tago for Frustrated Murder although they are on bail; another case filed in court for murder under Branch 5 in Iligan City; Kiram Ampuan was included in the PDEA and PNP Narcotics Drug List after he was allegedly in drug pushing in Metro Manila.
