INTRAMUROS, Manila (DWDD) – The opening of voting centers for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan 2018 Election was generally peaceful, except for some glitches in communication within the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
This is according to COMELEC spokesperson James Jimenez during this mornings press conference.
Jimenez said that they were having communication problems in some areas in ARMM due to weak signals like in the Bacolod, Kalawi and Tawi-Tawi Command Centers, although they have fielded augmentation troops from the Armed Forces of the Philippines to secure these sites.
They are also continuously monitoring in events in regions 1, CAR, region 3, region 4A, region 4B, region 6. region 7 and region8. In Samar and other parts of Mindanao, they are strictly monitoring due high incidents of vote-buying.
Jimenez added that personnel of the Philippine Red Cross and Department f Health have been fielded in various polling precintto provide first aid to voters who might experience dizziness and other form of ailments. AES / Photos by JGS
