EDSA, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Department of the Interiror and Local Government (DILG) expects the number of election hotpsots would rise days before the May 14 Baranggay and Sangguniang Kabataan election.
According to DILG Undersecretary Martin Dinio, based on the latest report from the Philippine National Police (PNP), a total of 7,915 hotspots were identified all over the country.
Of this number, 619 is placed under “red level” 4,972 is under the “orange level” and 2,325 is under the “yellow level”
Diño added that this number could still double because of possible intervention of some politticians.
He added that the department has already received reports from different areas where mayors and congressmen are openly endorsing candidates. He warned and reminded local officials not to intervene in the upcoming Brgy and SK election.
The declaration of an area as a COMELEC hotspot is based on the recommendation of the local Joint Peace and Order Security Councils dependg on the number and extent of complaints received. AES / MCAG
