AFP STATEMENT  |  Withdrawal of support of some soldiers, fake news

CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) branded as fake new the alleged withdrawal of support statement of soldiers belonging to a certain AFP Command.

According to Marine Colonel Edgard Arevalo, AFP Spokesman, a Messenger post purportedly from the soldiers of the “Southern Command” allegedly withdrawing support from Government and the President and encouraging other AFP units to follow suit is now circulating in social media.

Arevalo stated that this is “fake news” because there is no Southern Command in the AFP. He believes this is the handiwork of individuals who intend to sow discord in and to discredit the AFP as a professional organization.

He assured the public that their AFP shall and will remain united and steadfast following duly constituted authority and under the Chain-of-Command with the President and Commander-in-Chief on top of the hierarchy. AES / MCAG
