CAMP RAFAEL CRAME, Quezon City (DWDD) – Authorities arrested a suspected sniper of the IS-inspired Maute Terror Group during the Marawi siege last year.
PNP Chief Police Director General Oscar Albayalde identified the suspect as Unday Mangadato, 37 years old.
He was arrested at Felix Manalo street in Cubao, Quezon City after he was involved in an altercation and allegedly was brandishing a gun.
When personnel from the National Capital Region – Regional Police Intelligence Operations Unit (NCRPO-RPIOU) responded, they were able to recover from Unday one Mark IV Caliber 45 , ammunition and a grenade.
According to Police Director Camilo Cascolan of NCRPO, Mangadato is under Martial Law Arrest Order Number 1. Further investigation revealed that Mangadato served as body guard of a Mayor in Mindanao and recruited members for the Maute Group where he served as sniper during the Marawi siege.
Mangadato is facing cases of Illegal Possession of Firearms, Ammunitions and Explosive and violation of the COMELEC Gun Ban. AES / ALS
