CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines – United States Armed Forces Exercise Balikatan 34 – 2018 will hold its Opening Ceremony today, May 7, 2018 at the Tejeros Hall, AFP Commissioned Officers Club (AFPCOC) at Camp General Emiio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The event will commence with an invocation to be led by BGen Tirso Dolina, Chief Chaplain, AFP, to be followed by the Welcome Remarks and Recommendation to Open the Exercise by Lt Gen Lawrence Nicholson (USMC) US Executive Director – BK18.
Lt Gen Emmanuel Salamat, PH Exercise Director, will give his remarks nd formally open the exercise.
Lt Gens Salamat and Nicholson will jointly unfurl the Balikatan Flag.
Meanwhile, US Ambassador to the Philippines Ambassador Sung Kim will also give his remarks.
Lt Gen Carlito Galvez, Chief of Saff, Armed Forces of the Philippines will introduce the Guest of Honor Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
The Philippines and United States military forces have already conducted community engagement in different areas of Luzon as part of the exercise, together with medical engagements and trainings and spiritual enhancement activities.
This year’s exercise will focus on mutual defense, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief and counter terrorism, featuring humanitarian civic action activities in pre-selected areas in Cagayan and Central Luzon. AES / Photos by LQG / MCAG
