SINGAPORE (DWDD) – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, together with his fellow leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is in Singapore to participate in the 32nd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
Upon the invitation of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, President Duterte attends the Summit to discuss the advancement of community building and the shared commitment of promoting and upholding peace, security, and stability across the ASEAN Member States (AMS). It also serves as a venue for ASEAN Leaders to strengthen their commitment in addressing several regional and global concerns, as well as current developments in terms of economy and socio-cultural matters.
President Duterte is expected to tackle deliverables of the Philippines’ ASEAN chairmanship last year, including the ASEAN Consensus on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers, and the ASEAN Declaration on the Role of Civil Service as a catalyst to realize the ASEAN Vision 2025.
Singapore’s chairmanship of the ASEAN this year prioritizes the strengthening of the regions’ resilience and innovation, emphasizing the use of technology to improve the lives of people in the region.
