NAVAL STATION APOLINARION JALANDOON, Barangay San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (DWDD) – In the observance of the International Women’s Month, Naval Forces West in partnership with Naval Forces West Ladies Club and Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society conducted a free cervical cancer screening to 150 women in uniform and dependents of uniformed personnel from the AFP, PCG, PNP and BFP on April 13, 2018. A total of 26 licensed OB-Gyne from the provinces of Palawan and Manila. willingly rendered their medical services to ensure the success of this activity.
Women’s health should be given utmost priority as they play a significant role in the upkeep and effective management of the family, the community and in our society in general. The activity aimed to raised the women’s awareness on cervical cancer thru health promotion, early detection and disease prevention. The recipients who participated in the activity conveyed their gratitude to the doctors who shared their time, knowledge and expertise to educate them and diagnose their health on this particular reproductive health concern. They were also very thankful to the NFW and NFW Ladies Club for organizing and conducting this type of activity which shows deep concern and support to women’s empowerment and role in the Philippine society.
This typed builds linkages and nourishes strong partnership between Naval Forces West, the civil society organizations and other stakeholders which brought positive impact on the Philippine Navy’s role in nation building and people empowerment and development. NFW / MCAG
