FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija (DWDD) – The first-ever Division-Wide Youth Leadership (YLS) Summit commenced on April 11, at the Headquarters of the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division at Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija.

A total of 180 youth participants coming from Regions 1 and 3, and the province of Abra gathered at the Grandstand of 7ID for the Opening Ceremony. The participants were formally welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Eugenio Julio C. Osias IV, Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, G7, 7ID who is in charge of the activity.

Brigadier General Lenard T. Agustin, Assistant Division Commander of 7ID, and the Keynote Speaker during the ceremony, encouraged the YLS contingents to continue to participate in activities that will mould them to become productive citizens and good leaders of the future. Mentioning the age old adage of the youth being the hope of the future, BGen Agustin stressed the importance of giving the youth proper guidance to prevent the common leftist scheme of brainwashing their young minds until they leave their families and join a pointless, life-destructing armed rebellion.

The short program started with a rain of confetti and ended with a breathtaking performance from the skydivers of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM), to the delight of the crowd.

Major General Felimon T, Santos, Jr., Commander of 7ID, sent his greetings and said that the Command considers the youth as an important part of the community, and that it is for them that the Command continues to exert effort in promoting and supporting the YSL, in hopes of preparing them for the better future that the Philippine Army is securing. 7DPAO / MCAG
