SKILLS DEVELOPMENT  |  17IB troops undergo TESDA training

ALCALA, Cagayan (DWDD) – The 17th Infantry “Do or Die” Battalion under the 5th Infantry “Star” Division is continuously coordinating with the Technical Education and Skills Development Agency (TESDA) for the skills development of it’s troops.

In an interview by DWDD with LTC Camilo Saddam, Commanding officer, 17th IB, they are talking with Director Nestor Ave of TESDA-Cagayan for the conduct of skills training in baking and massage for the troops of 17IB, members of the CAFGU, dependents and civilians, especially the youth.

The program aims to provide additional skills to participants to enable them to have additional earnings.

LTC Saddam added that they will later include former members of the NPA in the program to assist them in regaining livelihood and enjoying their renewed freedom. Aside from the livelihood assistance they have received, the former rebels will also gain new knowledge and skills for gain earnings.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba has pledged support for the program especially for former rebels who opted to return to the folds of the law. AES / MCAG
