MINDANAO AVENUE, Quezon City (DWDD) – Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said construction of Mindanao Avenue Extension Segment 2C covering the 1.7-kilometer of road improvement in Caloocan and Valenzuela City has resumed after six administrations.
“The project which will link North Caloocan to North Luzon Expressway and Quezon City is being fast tracked in line with the Department’s program to decongest traffic,” Villar noted.
“We are positive that the whole Mindanao Avenue Extension can be utilized by the general public with the year,” he added.
The project, which was started in the 1980s, was delayed due to right-of-way issues.
“When completed, the 8-lane Mindanao Avenue Extension will significantly reduce travel time of motorists coming from Caloocan and Quezon City,” Villar noted.
The road Segment 2C costing P118 million also covers drainage, slope protection, and street lighting component for the safety of road users.
“The 1.7 kilometer road improvement is the missing gap of a 3.2 km road network. It’s about time we’re able to maximize the entire alignment,” he added. DSWD / MCAG
