CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – Men and Women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), their dependents together with civilian employees will be able to ride the LRT2 free of charge starting Saturday, January 20, 2018.
According to AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Lt Col Manny Garcia, the AFP signed last year, December 19, 2017, a memorandum of agreement with Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) for a partnership giving due recognition to the sacrifices of men in uniform by way of giving them free ride on LRT2 trains.
The MOA stipulates that all active military personnel and AFP civilian employees are entitled to ride the LRT-2 (Santolan-Recto) free of charge upon showing their AFP identification cards as access pass, this includes military ID, dependent’s ID, and Civilian Employee ID.
The MOA was signed by Major General Ronnie Evangelista, former commander of Civil Relations Service AFP (CRSAFP) and Retired General Reynaldo Berroya, LRTA Administrator at the LRTA 2 Depot in Pasig City.
The agreement was noted by AFP Chief of Staff General Rey Leonardo Guerrero, and approved by Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana on Thursday, 18 January 2018.
“We are very thankful to the LRT Authority for their show of support to our troops and civilian employees in performing their duties. This is a big help to our soldiers, dependents and civilian employees. This certainly boosts the morale of our troops and gives us more reasons to perform better in our mandate of serving the people and protecting the state” Gen. Guerrero said.
Along with this partnership, both parties are looking forward to advance coordination for the AFP to provide ambulance and medical teams for assistance to the LRTA for emergency and crisis situation. AFP PAO / MCAG
