COMMUNITY DIALOGUE  |  DOH conducts talk with stakeholders on post-immunization dengue

MANILA (DWDD) – Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III, as instructed by President Rodrigo Duterte, visited the Parang Elementary School in Marikina to hold a dialogue with parents, teachers, and students to allay their fear against post-immunization dengue and reiterate the Department of Health’s 4S message to avoid dengue.

4S consists of:

  1. a) Seek and destroy mosquito breeding places
  2. b) Self-protective measures
  3. c) Seek early consultation and
  4. d) Say yes to selective fogging.

 

However, Duque added a 5th S which is Strengthening surveillance in the light of deaths linked to Dengvaxia vaccine.

During the said dialogue, one parent suggested that a support/counselling group be establish for parents and caregivers. Another parent suggested that the government should not purchase vaccines or vaccinate children when election time is near.
Duque also disclosed that, aside from schools, dialogues will also be hold in communities in Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and Central Visayas where the Dengvaxia vaccine was piloted.

After the dialogue, the health chief also led the installation of mosquito traps and insecticide-treated screens in some classrooms. DOH / MCAG
