CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines has spoken on reports that foreign terrorist has entered the country.
According to AFP spokesperson Marine Col Edgard Arevalo, the AFP does not discount the possibility of foreign fighters surreptitiously entering the country given our vast and porous borders.
Arevalo assured the public that they are also keeping a tight watch over the country’s crevices and have enhanced their own monitoring and security posture to keep our sea and air ports in check.
‘We do this with the help of other relevant domestic and international agencies; as well as our own local government units. We have conventions and agreements with other regional and global partners like trilateral joint patrol agreements with Malaysia and Indonesia.’ He added.
‘But at the end of the day, we need the vigilance, cooperation, and active participation of our people in the communities who can monitor and report arrival of new faces in the neighbourhood’ said Arevalo. AES / MCAG
