CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has already registered P1-Billion in damages due to Typhoon Urduja.
According NDRRMC Spokesperson Romina Marasigan, they expect that the amount of damages may still rise.
Aside from the P550-Million cost of damages on infrastructure, the agriculture sector was able to record P475-Million in damages, in particularly on corn, rice and other high-value crops and livestock in the provinces of Masbate, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Cebu, Leyte, Biliran, Southern Leyte, Samar, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar.
Marasigan added that they expect the amount and number of casualty to grow as the NDRRMC continue to receive information on areas affected by the typhoon. NDRRMC/MCAG
