CAMP EDILBERTO EVANGELISTA, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City (DWDD) – The 4th Infantry Division condemns NPA’s another disinformation over the recent clash in the outskirts of Sitio Hinandayan, Brgy Camagong, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte on November 19, 2017.
“We do not succumb to lowly tactics such as covering up the injury or death of our comrade. We only have one dead and one wounded soldiers during the encounter and not the bloated figure given by the NPA.” Said Ltc Emil Cruz, 23rd Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer.
In a statement of a certain Malem Mabini (Hoax Identity), Spokesperson of NPA-North Central Mindanao, he said that the gov’t troops suffered three dead (one officer and two CAFGUs) and wounding of several others.
“Hiding the true status of our soldier is inhumane and insensitive to the plight of the families who are suffering and/or grieving. For the families to accept their loss, a period of grieving must be duly given to them. Denying this to them for a certain period to suit up your interest increases their pain. Take note that our soldier died and wounded while protecting the rights of the villagers who wanted to be developed and to be free from the atrocities of these bandits.” Ltc Cruz stressed.
The Local Government Unit together with the 23IB and other agencies have been implementing the Community Support Program to address the plights of the villagers in this community. This allowed the smooth delivery of government services to address the issues being capitalized by the NPAs to radicalize and lure the people. The government have also seen the full cooperation of the people and their eagerness to end the tyranny of these bandits.
“Before, while the NPAs is in that peaceful community forcibly taking away the food and other resources from the people, soldiers now are here giving their services to the people and bridging the gap between the people and the government. The NPAs made our people hopeful through their false promises, while the Government taught the people ways to realize their dreams.” Said MGen Ronald Villanueva, 4ID Commander
“The Filipino people deserve to know the truth from us. For the Filipino people to give their full confidence and trust to our soldiers, our credibility must always be checked and maintained to be untarnished. For there is no security in the unknown. Hiding the truth from the people does not help us in our mission.” MGen Villanueva concluded.
