ASEAN 2017  |  Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Summit

PICC, MANILA (DWDD) – Leaders from the ten Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states led by the 2017 ASEAN Summits Chair, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, together with the heads of state/government and senior officials from the People’s Republic of China, Republic of Korea, Japan, India, Australia, and New Zealand, convene at the Reception Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Summit on November 14, 2017.

East Asian countries have harmonious and prosperous trade and economic partnership with each other in the region through free trade agreements. Likewise, member countries from the ASEAN also have free trade agreements with six partnering nations in East Asia. Hence, in order to foster deeper engagement and increase participation in the economic development of the region, leaders from the 16 participating countries formed the RCEP, aiming to boost their economic networks with each other and to improve their trade and investment endeavours.
