SONGS FOR HEROES 3  |  Families of Marawi City HeroesBenefit from Concert

CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – Recognizing the sacrifices of the soldiers and police personnel in Marawi City, the UNTV hosted the Songs for Heroes 3, a benefit concert aimed to support the families of those killed-in-action (KIA) in the 154-day siege.

Armed Forces of the Philippines Public Affairs Office Chief Marine Colonel Edgard Arevalo said that military talents and bands performed in the musical event organized by the UNTV and the Church of God International.

“Our homegrown talents joined Original Filipino Music artists such Kris Lawrence, Darren Espanto,Jason Dy, Richard Reynoso, and Jamie Rivera, among others,” Col Arevalo added.

The benefit concert follows up on the Songs for Heroes 1 and 2 in 2015 that supported the families of

“SAF 44” of the Philippine National Police. This time it is for the families of the Heroes of the Marawi Siege that expects up to P6-million to be raised from sales and pledges from attendees and sponsors.

The concert was held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena yesterday, October 31, 2017.

AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero welcomed the continued outpour of support for the soldiers and the security forces in general, echoing the need for greater civilian participation in peace and security.

“Your Armed Forces of the Philippines is fully committed to fulfill our mandate, but we also need you as the battle that we are in entails so much the cooperative involvement of the civilian sector.  And knowing that our sacrifices are duly recognized, we are strengthened by the support given by the people we have sworn to protect, and with this, we cannot thank you enough. This inspiration draws us to a firm resolve to work harder, and remain as your most reliable AFP,” Lt. Gen. Guerrero said.
