CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal (DWDD) – Troops of 1st Infantry (Always First) Battalion led by Ltc Christopher Tampus proudly marched at 2ID Quadrangle in a Heroes’ Welcome Ceremony on October 21, 2017.
They were welcomed by the officers and men of 2ID headed by its Commander, MGen Rhoderick M Parayano after having been deployed at Marawi City last June 1, 2017 to participate in the AFP’s mission of defeating the Daesh-inspired Maute terror group.
MGen Parayno, in his message, expressed his gratitude and pleasure of once again seeing the troops of 1IB after 4 months and 20 days of deployment. He also lauded the accomplishments of the troops which depicted their readiness and determination in helping in the rescue of fellow Filipinos from the hands of the Maute group. Such efforts led to the recovery of twenty-five (25) high and low powered firearms and the rescue of thirty four (34) civilians and other hostages.
“Your accomplishments is the proof of the combat expertise and excellence of the Jungle Fighters wherever we may be deployed in country. I also take cognizance of the role of your female soldiers. You have shown the world the embodiment of the modern Maria Clara – strong, aggressive, determined, patriotic and above all, lady like and charismatic.” MGen Parayno added.
