Severe Tropical Storm Paolo 

PAGASA SCIENCE GARDEN, Quezon City (DWDD) – “PAOLO” has slightly intensified as it continues to move over the Philippine Sea.

  Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 450 km diameter of the Severe Tropical Storm.
  “PAOLO” may intensify into a Typhoon in the next 24 to 36 hours.
  The outer rainbands of “PAOLO” may bring scattered light to moderate with possible occasional heavy rains over Bicol Region, Visayas and Mindanao.
  Meanwhile, at 10:00 PM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 200 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (10.9°N, 117.1°E). This weather system will bring scattered light to moderate with possible occasional heavy rains over Palawan.
  Moderate to rough seas expected over the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon, of Visayas and of Mindanao.

 

Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm “PAOLO” was estimated based on all available data at 675 km East Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (10.5 °N, 132.1 °E)
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kph
Forecast Movement: Forecast to move North Northeast at 15 kph

  48 Hour(Thursday evening):845 km East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes(17.1°N, 131.2°E)
  72 Hour(Friday evening): 945 km East of Basco, Batanes(20.0°N, 131.0°E)
  96 Hour(Saturday evening):1,075 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes(23.6°N, 131.8°E)
  120 Hour(Sunday evening):1,300 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR)(27.2°N, 132.4°E)
