TRANSITION  |  PNP Chief calls for support for Anti-Drug Campaign under PDEA

CAMP CRAME, Quezon City (DWDD) – PNP Chief Police Director General Ronald Bato Dela Rosa called for support from Filipinos for the government’s anti-drug campaign under the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

This after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered PDEA to take the lead in the war on drugs.

Dela Rosa reiterated that he respects the decision of the president although he had a bit of disappointment because of the initials gains they already had with the campaign.

The PNP chief added that the decision would create a vacuum in the anti-drug campaign after the 185,000 strong PNP pulls-out.

He knows that the 1,700 agents of PDEA is small compared to the PNP, although he believes that this should not be seen negatively and must be taken as a challenge to PDEA, the Local Government, the citizenry and stakeholders, who must work together to rid the nation of this menace.

In connection with this, Dela Rosa has instructed the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group to turn-over to PDEA ll intelligence information on  drug-related activities, this after the PNP dissolved all Drug Enforcement Units nationwide. AES/ALS
