CAMP RAFAEL CRAME, Quezon City (DWDD) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has set in place all security measures in regards the National Day of Protest tomorrow, September 21.

According to National Capital Region Police Office Chief Director Oscar Albayalde, they have activated Task Force Manila Shield to face the expected 10,000 protesters commemorating the 45th Anniversary on the imposition by former President Ferdinand E Marcos of Martial Law.

Dir Albayade explained that they have also placed on stand-by additional personnel or augmentation force from Region 3 and Region 4, as  precautionary measure.

The police assured rally participants that they will strictly implement “Maximum Tolerance”, because they would like to avoid the violent clashes that happened in Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac and in Kidawapawan that ended in death of some participants and scores of militants and police injured.

Albayalde added that all police personnel that will be deployed as part of the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) will not be allowed to carry any firearms or truncheon except for their shield.

In connection with tomorrow’s activities, Albayalde added that they are verifying reports that six (6) sea vessels were rented by critics of the Duterte administration to ferry rally partcipants recruited ifrom the Visayas and Mindanao.

Lastly, Albayalde assured the public that whatever happens tomorrow, they are all-set for any “worst case scenario.” AES/ALS
