HONG KONG (DWDD) – The Philippines participated in the annual Asia Fruit Logistica on September 06 to 08 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, with SL Agrifood Corporation, a major supplier of bananas, mangoes and pineapples to the international market, as sole country representative.
Vice President for Export of SL Agrifood Corporation, Ms. Liza P. Guinto, said the demand for Philippine fruits, especially bananas, has been overwhelming as the company received numerous requests for orders, including spot sales, from international buyers.
Although listed under Singapore, Dole Asia Co. Ltd., and S&W Fine Foods International Limited also respectively marketed avocados and bananas, and pineapples from the Philippines during the Expo.
The event showcased products such fresh, unprocessed fruit and vegetables, dried fruits, nuts, herbs and spices, organic products, self-service flowers and potted plants, and fresh-cut convenience. It also gathered importers and exporters, fruit and vegetable producers, wholesalers and retailers, packaging and handling specialists, and transport and logistics specialists.
Asia Fruit Logistica registered more than 730 exhibitors from over 40 different countries, with over 70,000 trade visitors from 130 countries in attendance. dfa.gov.ph/MCAG
