BRGY WAWA, Batangas (DWDD) – Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Anti Transnational Crime Unit (CIDG-ATCU) raided a resort in Barangay Wawa, Batangas where they recovered a Caliber 45 pistol, bullets, a hand grenade, and a high-voltage portable electric taser.
CIDG-ATCU personnel launched the raid at the Fortune Island Resort before midnight, September 14, 2017 where they discovered the said items from a Song Jiman, a Korean, married, and said to be the owner f the resort.
The raid was implemented based on Search Warrant issued by Judge Agripino Morga of the Regional Trial Court of San Pablo City, Laguna.
The operation was launched after information and complaints reached the CIDG about Song Jiman who allegedly owns a gun and has been aiming it at residents and tourist in the area.
It was also revealed that the suspect is also involved in extortion activities victimizing Koreans.
CIDG agents engaged in a month-long surveillance of Song Jiman where they confirmed that he carries an unlicensed pistol, since verification from the PNP- Firearms and Explosives Office ng Camp Crame came out negative. With this development, the PNP-CIDG ATCU immediately requested for a Search Warrant to search the suspects house.
Song Jiman is currently being held at the CIDG-ATCU and is facing violation of Republic Act 10591 or Illegal Possession of firearms) and RA 9516 or Illegal Possession of Explosives. AES / ALS
