NEUTRALIZED  |  JTF Marawi scores anew vs Daesh-inspired Maute

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (DWDD) – Troops from the Marine Special Operations Group, under the Joint Task Force Tiger, were able to neutralize five (5) more members of the Daesh-inspired Maute/Abu Sayyaf Group early this morning in the Main Battle Area in Marawi City.

According to Lt Colonel Jo-ar Herrera, spokesperson, 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division, the Marines engaged the terrorist around 1:19 AM, that lasted for 35 minutes.

On the 5 Maute members neutralized, there were four body counts while only two cadavers were recovered. No casualty was recorded on the side of the government.

Based on Lt Col Herrerea’s explanation, some of the remains of the terrorist were not recovered because of the danger lurking in the area.

Troops were also able to recover two high-caliber rifles and a night vision goggle. 1DPAO / MCAG
