MANILA (DWDD) – As part of the efforts of the Philippine government in promoting and institutionalizing a “Child-sensitive” and “Child-friendly” society, the Regional Committee for the Welfare of Children (RCWC) will award the Seal of Child-friendly Local Governance to 17 LGUs in Metro Manila tomorrow at the Muntinlupa City Sports Complex.
Said activity is an annual event jointly spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) which was started in 2014 with its awarding on November 28, 2014.
Currently, as a result of CFLGA conducted in the 3rd quarter of 2015 and as conferred by the Seal of Child-friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) as approved by CWC Board, Muntinlupa City acquired the highest rating among the cities of Manila, Quezon, Malabon, Valenzuela, Caloocan, Taguig, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Makati, San Juan, Pasig, Marikina, Pasay and Municipality of Pateros.
Meanwhile, all the mentioned cities are conferees of SCFLG in certification and recognition of their initiatives in implementing their programs and services that uphold the rights of children. SMS DSWD / MCAG
