CAMP CRAME, Quezon City (DWDD) – “Madami po kaming nahuhuling riding-in-tandem”. “Hindi natutulog ang pulis ninyo”.
This was the assurance given by Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa as a reaction to critics citing their alleged failure in their anti-crime campaign especially against “riding-in-tandem” criminals.
PDG Dela Rosa cited as an example the accomplishment of the Southern Police District (SPD) where a total of forty-nine (49) riding-in-tandem criminals were arrested, not including those killed in police operations.
From July 2016 to present, there were a total of sixty-five (65) operations conducted by the SPD, four (4) suspects were killed, fifty-three (53) were arrested, and forty-five (45) cases were filed.
PNP Spokesperson Chief Supt Dionardo Carlos assured the media that they will release a complete list of operations conducted in the whole of Metro Manila, under the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
“Hindi po natutulog ang pulis ninyo. they can call me whatever names they want to call me kasama yan sa sweldo na tinatanggap namin, yung laitin ka, yung mumurahin ka, yung pagdududahan ka, yung ibu-bull out ka, kasama yan sa sweldo namin so i can take whatever names they want me to assume. they can call me batuganok lang sa akin yun pero pakiremind siya na yung batugan pag nagalit pwede pa maging bato-machine gun, pag napupuno ang batugan. o gusto mo gatling gun, bato-gatling gun.” Dela Rosa added.
The PNP Chief did not hide his dismay on critics of the PNP who lambast them left and right despite all their hardships and efforts to clean the streets of crime and provide a safe environment for the citizens.
Dela Rosa believes that what is more important is the assessment and true sentiments of the people for the police force. ALS / AES
