FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila (DWDD) – The Philippine Army shooting team “Manunudla” is bound for Australia today, May 11, 2017, to join the Australian Army Skills at Arms Meeting (AASAM) 2017.
The AASAM 2017 is an international shooting competition which will be held on May 13-26 at the Combined Arms Training Center, Puckapunyal Military Area, Victoria, Australia.
The Philippine Army shooting team will send a 14-man shooting contingent headed by Col. Royland M. Orquia. They will compete against shooters from over 20 other international teams in different categories: sniper, carbine rifle, pistol, and machine gun. AASAM is an initiative of the Australian Army Rifle Association with the aim to validate modern standards, equipment and training systems in combat shooting.
AASAM is on its 10th year of hosting the international competition. “In line with our vision of becoming a world class Army, we are continuously honing the marksmanship skills of our soldiers to be at par with other Armies not only in the Southeast Asian Region but also in the whole world,” said Lt.
