Staff members from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) disseminate fliers to marginalized residents during its information caravan, while having a simultaneous consultation with several urban poor families and a medical mission with the Department of Health (DOH) last April 29, 2017 in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North, Navotas City.
MANILA (DWDD) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) maintains its delivery of “Maagap and Mapagkalingang Serbisyo” to urban poor communities across Metro Manila through its information caravans that highlight the social welfare programs and services of the government.
Over the weekend, the DSWD joined forces with the Department of Health (DOH) to conduct a mass information drive and provide free medical and health services to families in Barangays North Bay Boulevard North and South, Navotas City, particularly the victims of a recent fire in the area, and those in Navotas Fish Port Complex (NFPC).
Aside from the featured services, the Department also organized a consultation meeting with urban poor families to present the DSWD’s Promotive Programs such as the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan –Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Service (KALAHI-CIDSS), Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) and the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), as well as, its Protective Programs which include the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) and its Disaster Response Programs.
More or less 300 persons participated in the activity and were provided with free medical consultation and medicines during the information and ‘serbisyo’ caravan of the two government agencies.
Under the directives of DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo, the agency is set to conduct similar information drives in rural poor communities across the country in the following months.
“Sa pamamagitan po ng mga information drives na ito ay mas nailalapit namin ang mga serbisyo ng gobyerno para sa masang Pilipino. Asahan nyo po na sa mga susunod na buwan ay madadagdagan pa ang mga ganitong aktibidad mula sa aming ahensya upang mas marami pang mga kababayan natin and magkaroon ng kaalaman tungkol sa mga programa at serbisyo ng DSWD para sa mga nangangailangan ng tulong (We continue to use our information drives to bring the programs of the government closer to the masses. We are planning to conduct similar activities in the following months to enlighten more communities about the DSWD’s programs and services),” explained the Secretary. SMS DSWD / MCAG
