Globe telecom supports OCD’s Bida Ang Handa Campaign

ocdGlobe Telecom expresses its support to Office of Civil Defense’s (OCD’s) Bida Ang Handa Campaign in line with the conduct of the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on 31 March 2017.

In a meeting conducted on 23 March 2017 at OCD, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City, Globe officials led by Mr. Robert M Aquino, conveyed their interest to join in the campaign activities. Globe offered to send a text alert on the NSED-day to encourage the public to do the duck, cover and hold at 2 pm. The message content will come from OCD while Globe will facilitate the dissemination of the message to selected subscribers.

“We recognize the telco’s active participation in our DRRM initiatives not only during response but also in preparedness activities like the NSED. This is another manifestation of the effectiveness of our whole of nation approach to DRRM involving all sectors through their fields of expertise,” said Usec Ricardo B Jalad.

OCD launched the campaign last week with the aim to promote disaster preparedness and encourage public participation to the NSED. With the Bida Ang Handa Campaign, government, private, academe, and media sectors are enjoined to take a photo and/or video of individual/s doing a preparedness activity with the fan sign or spoken statement: “Mag-da-Duck, Cover and Hold kami sa March 31, 2017! Dahil bida ang handa!” #BidaAngHanda is the official hashtag for this year’s NSED.

The ceremonial venue for the 1st Quarter NSED will be at AFP Command Center, Cebu City. Local drills will be conducted nationwide through the OCD Regional Offices.
