After the first win in 2015 and as the 2nd placer in 2016, Arellano Chiefs Squad finally danced its way back for the National Collegiate Athletic Association or NCAA cheerleading competition crown at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
The new champion gained a total of 218 points and went home with a total of P100,000 grand price. They toppled the nine-time champion University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Atlas Perp Squad with only 119.5 points and a consolation price of P75,000.
On the other hand, 2004 titlist Mapua Cheering Cardinals earned the bronze medal with a score of 191 points. San Beda College claimed its fourth place having 175 points proceeded by the 5th placer Emilio Aguinaldo College with 164.5 points.
Saint Benilde saved the 6th spot with 156.6 points, Lyceum of the Philippines University tallying 143 points and 141 points for Jose Rizal University.
The judges of the NCAA competition gave their highest rate for the stunts, pyramid and basket toss with 25 points each. The cheer, tumbling and over-all presentation was also observed accompanied with 10 points each and 5 points for the flow of routine or transitions.
