FREED HOSTAGES || AFP STRICTLY FOLLOWED NO RANSOM POLICY

afp-genuine-logoCamp Aguinaldo, Quezon City — The Armed Forces of the Philippines strongly affirmed that no ransom was paid in exchange for the release of a Korean national, Park Chulhong and a Filipino, Glenn Alindajao that were held hostages by the Abu Sayyaf Group on January 14, 2017.

AFP Public Information Officer Marine Colonel Edgard Arevalo, they strictly followed their no ransom payment policy and the only reason why the hostages were freed because of the non-stop military operations.

Arevalo also mentioned that the rebels also had starved and had a hard time avoiding the military operations which left them without any other choice but to surrender their victims.

On the other hand, Arevalo pointed out that they have no verified information if the families of the victims have paid any ransom money. – EPJA
