Villar: Traslacion Route now free of potholes

mav-1Manila -Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar assured the public that DPWH has already undertaken corrective measures and maintenance activities along the route of the Black Nazarene to ensure the safety of the devotees.

“The route of the Grand Procession will be from QUIRINO GRANDSTAND going to KATIGBAK DRIVE thru P. BURGOS, left TAFT AVE. thru JONES BRIDGEright DASMARIÑAS, righ t PALANCA thru under QUEZON BRIDGE, left QUEZON BLVD., right ARLEGUI, right Fraternal, right Vergara, Duque de Alba, left Castillejos, left Farnecio, right ARLEGUI, left NEPOMUCENO (counter-flow), left AGUILA, right Carcer, right HIDALGO thruPLAZA DEL CARMEN, left BILIBID VIEJO thru PUYAT, left GUZMAN,  right HIDALGO, left Bautista (Barbosa), rightGLOBO DE ORO thru under QUEZON BRIDGE, right PALANCA, right VVILLALOBOS thru PLAZA MIRANDA going to QUIAPO CHURCH, ” Villar said.

“The Traslacion Route is now free of potholes, defects except for areas that might be damaged by rain prior to Jan 9 procession,” he added.

DPWH has conducted pothole patching of noted defects or deficiencies, provided manhole covers and grating for inlet and removed spoils, debris and other obstructions within the route.

“The length of the Procession is 5.96 km. A joint inspection has been conducted as early as December 15 together with the Local Government Unit of Manila, Quiapo Church Administration and other government agencies. Our roads are ready for Traslacion,” he said.

The annual Black Nazarene procession commemorates the first parade transferring the revered statue of Jesus Christ from a church in Intramuros to the Quiapo Church on Jan. 9, 1767.
