More than 132 inmates escaped when an unidentified group of armed men attacked the North Cotabato District Jail today around 1:00 in the morning.
Major General Rafael Valencia, commander of the 10th Infantry Division said, around 60 outsiders raided the jail.
Armed Forces of the Philippines troop together with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) were organized to hunt the fugitives.
Air assets of Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) were set in the area when needed, Maj. Gen. Valencia added.
Members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front – Special Operations Group (MILF-SOG) and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters are among some of the high-profile inmates of the jail. (LMC/MF)
